The New Forest is an area of oustanding natural beauty occupying 93,000 acres of England's countryside. This important wilderness has a wide range of habitats for wildlife. There are heaths, bogs, grassy lawns which are closely trimmed by the New Forest Pony, gorseland, ancient woodland, and timber producing areas called inclosures.
