To be helpful, you will arrive at the Bed and Breakfast at a predetermined time probably in the afternoon, be shown to your bedroom and where breakfast will be served. A time will be agreed for breakfast or other meals if appropriate. You will probably have some facilities in the bedroom such as tea and coffee with a kettle, milk and maybe a biscuit or two. Some bed and breakfasts will provide a hair-dryer or maybe an iron and ironing board, but dont count on it. It is perfectly normal for the proprietor to want payment in advance, but this will be different depending upon each establishment. Please realise that credit card machines cost money, and due to the low turnover of many B&Bs it is quite normal for them to want cash or a cheque with supporting bank card. Do not wait until you leave to find out that they dont take credit cards as it gets embarassing! - (leave your partner and/or bags until you pay !). If your bed and breakfast is in a remote location, and there is a nearby pub or restaurant, please remember that when the sun goes down in the New Forest, it gets dark!. There are not usually street lamps in the villages and a torch is sometimes a necessity, Please bring one with you and dont rely on the proprietor lending you his.
